Liquid Gold Agarwood Found To Have Significantly Higher Agarotetrol
In a recent agarwood analysis by the School of Applied Science, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, was found to have as much as 0.64% of Agarotetrol concentration (mg/L), which are 6.4 times higher than 0.1% (the minimum content) based on Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2015 in its samples from Lao, PDR. Agarotetrol is a source compound for low molecular weight aromatic compounds from agarwood heating.1
The analytical test was undertaken to study the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) chemical profiles (fingerprinting) and the quantitative levels of the active ingredient agarotetrol in August 2022. This is done in collaboration with Link Capital for the further development of the centre of innovation (COI) capability in complimentary health products (CHP) research. It identified agarotetrol as the major quantitative marker (Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2015, Takamatsu & Ito, 2018).
“We are very pleased with the results and it reaffirms our position on producing quality agarwood oil for different industries”, said Denny Chong, CEO and founder of Link Capital. Agarwood and its oud oil are widely used for incense, perfume, traditional medicine, and other products in the world market. In traditional Chinese medicine, agarwood is used as a Qi-regulating drug and carminative medicine.
Link Capital, is leading the region to establish standards for agarwood quality and ensure the production of the highest standard of agarwood oils. Through its collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic’s Centre of Innovation - Complimentary Health Products. Link Capital is also working with agarwood producers in the region to adopt sustainable practices and ESG (environment, social governance) principles.
With a ready harvest of agarwood chips and Oud oil from Lao PDR, we invite potential expressions of interest to acquire current and future harvests.
